THE DR. TILLER MEMORIAL GARDEN FUND
Our FCHC emergency fund, established in 2009 to honor Dr. Tiller and his family’s dedication to reproductive health, was created for women coming to our center who are experiencing financial challenges. This fund has now merged with ARCH, but we invite you to read on to demonstrate the impact the life and work of Dr. George Tiller has been to our center as well as to the entire abortion care community.
Dr. George R. Tiller was known and admired for his tremendous contribution to abortion services, not only in the United States, but around the world.
His willingness to listen to women and respond to their deepest needs was of paramount importance to him. Dr. Tiller’s overarching principles of kindness, courtesy, justice, love, and respect were the driving force in his ability to provide these services, with compassion and skill, to women who found themselves in catastrophic circumstances.
On May 31, 2009, Dr. Tiller was murdered as he served as an usher in his Wichita, Kansas church.
Sum of Change Productions created a YouTube video of the George Tiller Memorial Garden Dedication that took place on Saturday, August 9, 2009.
In 2001, the Abortion Care Network honored Dr. George Tiller with an award. Here are his own words on his commitment to women.
