FCHC and COVID-19

Please be advised that while the Commonwealth of Virginia has relaxed some of the COVID regulations in place, we are a medical facility and are still subject to mask requirements. Please be sure to bring and wear a surgical / N95 / KN95 mask to your appointment. (We ask that you use one of these instead of a cloth mask.)
We also highly recommend that you receive your COVID-19 vaccination in order to help slow the spread of COVID to those who are immunosuppressed or cannot become vaccinated. Residents of Virginia ages 12 years or older are eligible to receive the vaccine for free. For more information, see https://vaccinate.virginia.gov/ .

We know that you’re concerned about COVID-19 (coronavirus). As your healthcare partner, we would like you to know that the health of our patients and our employees is our top priority. At FCHC we are taking additional steps to be extra vigilant to keep everyone healthy. We know that it is important that patients do not postpone needed healthcare, especially abortion services, as delaying abortion care may increase risks and costs.
We are adhering to health and safety guidelines suggested by the American Medical Association, the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Abortion Federation. Please note that, for everyone’s safety, we have implemented temporary patient and visitor procedures. We have put these in place to ensure the health of all of our patients and staff, and in order to support physical distancing and minimizing the risk of community spread.
The following guidelines are in place:
- All patients must complete our health screening questionnaire. We want to make sure that everyone who enters our clinic is not exhibiting symptoms of the COVID-19 Virus. Patients with respiratory and/or flu-like symptoms and/or a fever of 100°F (37.8°C) are asked to reschedule their appointment until they are well. Flu-like symptoms include:
- shortness of breath
- cough
- sore throat
- fatigue
- myalgia (body aches)
- We regret that we can no longer accommodate support people and/or visitors at this time. Our facility is now limited to patients and staff only. (Patients under 18 years old may have one parent or legal guardian present, and patients who do not speak English or Spanish and require a translator.)
- All patients must wear a mask covering their nose and mouth at all times in the Center. We also strongly recommend that you wear a mask within the rest of the building as well, even if you have been vaccinated. Please use a surgical/N95/KN95 mask, not a cloth one.
- All patients must sanitize their hands right before entering the Center. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance as well as the lobby of our Center. We strongly recommend thorough hand-washing as well. There are restrooms in the hallway which are available for hand-washing.
- All patients must cover their cough/sneeze with a tissue or sleeve, and wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds afterwards.
- All patients should avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth. The virus can remain on surfaces we touch as well as on our skin. This will help minimize the chances that the virus will spread internally.
- Patients who are unvaccinated who have been in recent contact with a person known to have COVID-19 may be asked to reschedule their appointment.
